aaargh

So. This weekend marks the THIRD year I will be participating in a now tradition – Pirate Camping. It is exactly what you think it is – camping, but with some of us dressed up like pirates. I’m not really sure how or why it started, hopefully it was a Halloween thing. Regardless, it’s a bunch of friends and I going out into the woods in Bonner Springs, drinking, and waiting til our neighbors – RenFest ENTHUSIASTS (i.e. Rennies) – come back from their gypsy jobs completely drunk and start lighting stuff on fire. You literally have NO IDEA what it’s like to party with Rennies. It’s like partying with Carnies. GINORMOUS bonfire, kids running totally amuck, bongos, the whole bit. It’s actually pretty white trash, but keep reading: It’s only a matter of time before all these gallant men feel the need to put on a show and light these giant sticks on fire and start twirling them around. Everyone in our group is just like, um okay.. Why not. And the night always turns out to end around 4 am, and you always have some really weird, entertaining evening-recap stories in the morning, and even better pictures.

So tonight, we don our pirates hats once again, and get ready to party with weird Rennies and hopefully make it out alive. Ahoy!
